📉Tesla`s European sales decline accelerated in April 2025, showing dramatic drops across most markets despite the launch of the refreshed Model Y. The company saw its lowest UK sales in over two years (-62%) and its worst April in the Netherlands since 2022 (-74%).
While the overall European EV market grew by 24% in Q1, Tesla`s market share has contracted from 19.7% to 8.8% year-over-year. Competition from Chinese manufacturers and traditional automakers is intensifying, with Volkswagen reporting a 182% increase in EV sales and BYD growing 94% in Europe.
Norway remains Tesla`s bright spot with 12% growth, where the Model Y continues as the country`s best-selling car. Italy also showed positive momentum with a 29% increase.
In Ireland, there were only 30 Teslas newly registered last month, which includes 26 Model Y cars and 4 Model 3 cars, down from 333 units in March.

Toyota announces significant upgrades to the bZ4X battery-electric SUV for 2025, delivering substantial improvements in range, performance, charging capability, and interior refinement.
The updated model features:
- Two battery options 57.7 kWh or 73.1 kWh battery, including a new 73.1 kWh pack
- Extended range up to 573 km (WLTP)
- Increased power output across all variants—up to 343 hp in AWD models
- Advanced battery pre-conditioning for optimized charging
- Enhanced 22 kW AC charging capability
- Completely redesigned interior with a 14-inch touchscreen

The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (#SIMI) reported that 2,536 new electric vehicles (EVs) were registered in March 2025. This figure is steady compared to February’s registrations (2,524 units), and maintains the strong momentum seen in the Irish #EV market so far this year. For the first quarter of 2025, a total of 9,983 new electric cars have been registered - a 25.73% jump from the same period last year (7,929 units)
March 2025 saw #Volkswagen lead the market with 430 units sold, followed by #Tesla with 333 registrations and #KIA in third place with 272 units. #BYD, #Skoda, #MG, #Renault, #Hyundai, #Toyota, and #Volvo rounded out the top 10 brands for the month.
🏆 The best-selling EV models in March 2025 were:
✔ Volkswagen ID.4 (302 units)
✔ Tesla Model 3 (228 units)
✔ KIA EV3 (128 units)
✔ Tesla Model Y (105 units)
✔ Toyota bZ4X (105 units)
✔ KIA EV6 (94 units)
✔ MG4, Skoda Elroq, Skoda Enyaq, and BYD Seal also showed strong.
